Method Development

In the early 1990s, I developed concepts for environmental supply chain management ('integraal ketenbeheer') for the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, in close cooperation with leading Dutch companies. The methods were further refined in a number of projects for the German parliament and the Umweltbundesamt (until 2002), in which we also looked at the role of government. See also my publication list.

Sustainable Supply Chain Management

Sustainable processes and products require optimisation of processes and management along all relevant parts of the supply chain: sustainable supply chain management.

Responsible companies take care of the social and environmental sustainability of the supply chain. Paper should not contribute to the destruction of the last Russian primary forests; Textile production should positively contribute to economic and social development in the third world. Sustainability standards for supply chain should be defined in dialogue with all relevant stakeholders.

Project Examples

What I Do

  • I am specialised in building partnerships along the supply chain, for example in the forest-timber-paper chain and the cotton-textile chain.
  • I assist players in the supply chain in defining and implementing social and environmental standards.

I use a variety of tools, such as:

  • Supply chain cooperation organisation model, developed with KPMG Milieu
  • Value chain analysis for sustainability, a 2-day workshop program, developed for Unilever in cooperation with IMD
  • Systematic facilitation for cooperation in the supply chain
