In our projects, we brought paper customers into direct contact with forest owners at the advantage of all players, including the paper producer, not interfering with the commercial interests in the supply chain, see PowerPoint sheet on the right.

For a number of projects, in which I was involved as a consultant, Axel Springer, Norske Skog and UPM Kymmene received one of the prestigious ICC  World Summit Business Awards for Sustainable Development Partnerships at the Johannesburg UNEP meeting. The project title was: Newspapers that Know their Trees (see page 63).

 


Since 1996, I have been carrying out trend-setting innovative projects in the paper chain. We built up effective partnerships between forest owners, paper companies, major paper customers and NGOs with the following objectives:

  • ecological optimisation in the paper chain from tree to end consumer
  • implementing CSR in the supply chain
  • cooperative standard setting in the supply chain
  • transparency in the supply chain, chain of custody
